I am a huge list maker and have little notes laying everywhere… If you do too then look no further.
A colleague recently turned me onto a little application that in just the past few days has allowed me a little ‘peace’ of mind. I spin around all day in different roles and speak to many people during the course of a day. Up until now, I would forget about the small things. I would then have one of those ‘moments’ where I say, “Dang. I forgot!” The task is left undone or the next day is stacked a little bit higher.
Forget no more. My experiment to utilize notation apps and task managers has taken me from many futile reproductions of the same list features to one program. Rememeber The Milk allows you to manage tasks lists in a very original manner. I needed this and I suspect you do to.
But what makes Remember The Milk……well, “remember-able”?
- It’s Super Easy – Not many applications lending themselves to the practicalities that we have become accustomed to in our ‘work’ lives. If you spend time at a computer there is not doubt you have memorized the “Quick keys” that allow you plug away like a mindless drone with 99.9% accuracy. Remember The Milk allows Shortcut Keys and I *love* shortcut keys. I like to think sometimes I can navigate my entire computer with shortcut keys and it definitely plays into the design efforts put into this successful list maker.
- It’s Clean – RTM completely rocked the user interface by removing anything that may distract you from managing your ‘to-do’ list.
- It has a Feed – You can attach these tasks to your calendar feed with RSS or the iCal resource
- It’s Everywhere – From widgets in Gmail to Android to Blackberry and iPhone. Just visit the Services page and look for yourself.
- It’s Free – As most services overload you with options and piggy-back costs you do not need, RTM does not. It does support a Pro version just in case you want to insert a CC somewhere.
If I haven’t provided you enough encouragement to put down that pad and pencil just yet, maybe my next point will bring you in. It does concern having a ‘smart’ phone so if you are one of those ‘I-just-need-a-phone-to-talk’ people please stop now.
After setting up a few tasks on the web interface and learning the quick keys I was immediately impressed. I saw there was a mobile app and I chimed in. The app set dormant for a day or two and I continued my journey to find how RTM was going to the be the best task organizer that MY needs. I was a bit deterred at first and then I was at lunch and logging into my RTM mobile app. Finally, a solid yet simple app that was immediately ready to use. I moved a few things around and suddenly realized that the majority of all my tasks were now organized on my phone RTM app with ease.
I haven’t logged back into the web until today. I needed a few snapshots. And for what it’s worth….this is my 6th task app I have been through. I have tried ColorNote, AddNote, Gmail Tasklist, Yammer and Android Notes and none compare.
